About the Artist

I love painting and have done since childhood, excelling through my school years. I grew up in a working class family and my father impressed on me the need make a living. So I had to put aside my aspirations of becoming an artist. Instead I had a successful career running a London-based business, delivering construction projects.

Ten years ago I once again picked up my brushes and returned to my passion. I updated my skills through courses at Central Saint Martins. Moving to Portugal in 2019, I now live and create in Tavira on the Algarve.

I travel extensively in my motorhome, around the continent. I capture inspirational views and then return to my studio to paint, using oil, acrylic and watercolour.

My other output is mainly based on more abstract themes, albeit still representational. These ideas come from my imagination, along with reference images, including still life.

I find the processes of painting intoxicating, feeding every receptor in my brain. I loose myself for hours, capturing with my hands, the places and things I have seen.
